Do you need a permit for a dumpster in Boise?

Not in your driveway. On the street, yes, and it's cheap. Here's how it works in each town we deliver to.

Traffic cones at a Boise curb

If the dumpster sits on your own property, there's no permit anywhere in the Treasure Valley. Driveway, side yard, gravel pad, job site: all fine.

On a public street it's different. Boise requires a right-of-way permit for anything parked on the street more than a day, dumpsters included. It's $45, takes about a day, and we pull it for you when you book. Cones and reflective tape go on the container.

Meridian, Nampa, Caldwell, Eagle, Kuna, Star and Garden City each have their own version. Some are free, some are a small fee, and all of them want a couple of days' notice. Tell us the dumpster is going on the street and we'll handle it.

The one thing to check yourself is your HOA. Most allow a dumpster in the driveway for a few days; some want to be told first. Five minutes with the CC&Rs saves a letter.

Short version: driveway, nothing to do. Street, tell us, and we'll take care of it.
